Every route is guided by certified alpine leads, capped at six guests, and routed around fragile zones. Pick your line — we handle the ropes, the maps, and the weather windows.

Seasonal Program

Two Seasons,
One Ridge

The lodge runs two distinct programs. Winter is snow and silence; summer is rock and light. Between them, we close for two weeks to let the mountain rest.

Winter · Dec–Apr

Cold
Side

Skintracks, powder fields, and night traverses under aurora-green skies. Every tour starts with a beacon check and ends with fondue at the lodge fire.

  • — Ski-touring & splitboard
  • — Glacier night traverse
  • — Avalanche safety clinic
  • — Snowshoe wildlife route
Summer · Jun–Oct

Warm
Side

Ridge hikes, via ferrata, and summit weeks. The hut network opens, the meadows bloom at 2,400 m, and the days run long enough for a sunset rappel.

  • — Summit weeks (4,000 m+)
  • — Via ferrata & rock craft
  • — Glacier trek & bivouac
  • — Alpine flora foraging walk

Horizon Lodge is a larch-clad station built on a south-facing shelf above Arolla. It runs on a micro-hydro turbine fed by glacier melt, composts all organics on-site, and sources 90% of its food from within 40 km.

We host a maximum of 24 guests at a time. No single-use plastics, no helicopters to the door — you walk the last 800 m of elevation, same as the guides.

What They

"

The Weisshorn week broke me and rebuilt me in the same five days. The guides read the weather like a book and never once rushed a decision. I came back a quieter person.

"

I booked the forest bivouac expecting a hike and got a philosophy lesson around a pine fire. No signal, no schedule, two days of actual silence. I've already rebooked for autumn.
