Nine lip names, and the two that are basically marketing
Russian, cherry, Cupid's bow, keyhole, heart-shaped, butterfly, doll, bow-tie, natural. I kept hearing these in clinic videos like they were treatment plans. They aren't. They're style names, and a few of them overlap or contradict each other depending on who's describing them.
Doll lips and bow-tie lips turned out to be mostly search and marketing labels. Keyhole, heart-shaped and butterfly get described differently from one source to the next.
What helped: read the short description for each, pick the one detail I liked (more height up top, rounder center, crisper peaks), and bring that sentence to the consult instead of the name. A provider still has to look at my lips before any of it means anything.
The LookPrep glossary of lip names has all nine with illustrations and says where the sources disagree.
